I still don’t get the point of the tissues to be honest. Was it to confuse the audience? Was it because the dream was actually shared? And look at the placement of the tissues, it seems different from gif 1 to gif 3 and 4. Sloppy attempt at being clever or genius?
This daydream still puzzles me. I am “almost” convinced that Eric and Sookie share dreams. This was Sookie’s dream and Eric intercepted it? The Fae do have the ability of Oneirokinesis, the abilty to infiltrate dreams. I thought maybe because of this ability Sookie inadvertently infiltrated Eric’s dreams, but in this case Eric was awake. Alcide’s apartment, the sheets and comforter, the soiled tissue on the bed, Sookie’s white flower print robe, how would Eric know all this? Is he also from Fae heritage and may have this Oneirokinses ability? Well, so many questions and not enough concrete answers. It is so special that they have this connection. It is nothing unlike what Bill and Sookie EVER shared. I hope we get a hint of the alleged “shared dreams” next season.
This is Eric’s fantasy, not even a dream (unless a day-dream counts). And yes, there are a lot of questions and not many concrete answers. Which is one of the things TB does best: Makes these puzzles for those who pay attention. :)
Whether they do share these dreams (and I am leaning toward “yes” on this one) or not, the point still stands: Sookie’s dreams of Eric are so very different from her dream of Bill, and from the dreams others had about vampires whose blood they ingested. Whatever this is, it’s unique to Eric and Sookie.
It certainly is unique to the two of them and whether or not it ever explained is irrelevant. I tend to believe that whether a day dream or a dream the connection between the two of them goes beyond the normal and into the spiritual/metaphysical levels of life and we are simply meant to understand that their connection is extraordinary.
I’m on the fence about the shared dreams, but it’s hard to disregard the intuitive nature of both Sookie’s dreams and Eric’s daydream. Either way, I agree that there may be no true explanation and that we are merely suppose to recognize the depth of their connection. And, it’s hard to ignore the significance of this particular daydream because it belongs to Eric, who isn’t (to our knowledge) influenced by external forces like Sookie is. Hints of their connection are revealed in the mutual effects of their blood with each other, as well as the influence Eric’s blood may have on Sookie’s powers. There are clues that show us the specialness of Eric and Sookie and the dreams are another vehicle the writers are using to continue to show us.
Best of all, there is nothing analogous in the Bill/Sookie relationship!! :))
Yes you are absolutely correct. There will never be “an explanation” of any one thing on True Blood. We should know this by now. There are mere hints everywhere; Eric’s blood affect on Sookie Fae powers, their dreams, their deep spiritual experience. The writers have shown us enough of these hints to tell us their is definitely something special and strong between them without spelling it out.
Maybe it’s just me, but I would call all of the things mentioned above the narrative equivalent of SPELLING IT OUT.
Personally, I don’t even know whose dream this is. It looks like Eric’s but he’s awake — it’s Sookie who is sleeping, and he knows about her robe, her tears, the room she’s in… at the same time, she doesn’t know he can fly, and would have no reason to tell him that she knows about his childhood by the North Sea. This dream is deliberately a blend of both of their subconscious, unavowed desires. He wants her — but he doesn’t JUST want her sexually, he wants her to know him in some deep long forgotten way, and she knows in her heart of hearts that Bill’s not the one she’s looking for. I don’t think they literally have to say to us THEY SHARE DREAMS for us to legitimately come to the conclusion that they do, in some deep way, influence each other, and that they do share each others dreams.

I think it’s solely his fantasy. we know that he knows she was crying her eyes out because after she drank his blood she tells Bill “he will always know the way I feel.” So he is putting logic into his fantasy perhaps thinking “oh she is heartbroken over that dick and now she will want me.”

if they do it like the books, she would have known a vampire was in the building by the “void” vampires make in her mind-reading. I just realized that.
